2010 promises to be another exciting year at Buddy Media. We’re over a month into a new decade and the momentum that we built in the fourth quarter of last year continues to grow. Rather than devote individual blog posts to announcing the launch of every Public Profile tab built on the Buddy Media Platform, the next several posts will be devoted to exploring business verticals that have embraced social media advertising as the wave of the future.
Since our launch of a custom Public Profile tab for J.Crew, we’ve seen a huge influx of fashion industry clients eager to build and leverage a presence on Facebook. In just five short years, Tory Burch has built a business that began as a single boutique in Nolita and has subsequently grown into a global fashion empire. Tory travels the world in search of inspiration for her high end fashions – so we built a Facebook Fan Page which highlights her experiences and influences. The Style Guide custom tab includes photos from Tory’s travels abroad, a lookbook of the latest line of fashions, as well as a dynamic feed of all of Tory’s tweets. Tory’s personality shapes the look of her fashions – and her Fan Page highlights how personally connected she is to her brand.
On the opposite side of the fashion coin is Diane von Furstenberg – a fashion icon and legend. The DVF logo is one of the most instantly recognizable images in the fashion industry, and the brand has long been an arbiter of wearable and artistic designs. We took all of this into account when building a custom Public Profile tab for Diane von Furstenberg on Facebook. The Inside DVF tab showcases photos taken behind the scenes at runway shows, as well as wealth of virtual goods inspired by actual products for the Diane von Furstenberg line.
Where can you purchase high fashion online? Have you visited Gilt Groupe? Gilt Groupe provides access, by invitation only, to coveted women’s fashion brands at up to 70% off retail prices. Their business model is built upon a foundation of daily deals exclusively available to members in limited quantities. We built the Inside Gilt custom Public Profile tab to provide an outlet for consumers to request membership or to invite their friends to join in exchange for a referral reward. The page also highlights brands and fashions that have been featured on Gilt Groupe in the past, as well as a cool video that gives users a behind the scenes look at Gilt Groupe’s headquarters.
As you can see, the fashion industry has embraced Facebook as a means of reaching fans with exclusive content that is both engaging and entertaining. But, fashion is not the only vertical that has made a splash on Facebook. Tune in next week for a look at some of the work that we’ve done in the travel vertical.
