Web sites are always trying to make themselves stickier – in other words, keeping people on their pages longer so they can serve more ads. Through its API, chat provider Meebo
is now looking to help developers make their applications within social networks like Facebook stickier, and this morning is announcing partnerships with several large app builders.
With the deals, Buddy Media, K-Factor Media, Rockstarted, and several others will be integrating Meebo chat into their applications. This means that within apps like (fluff)Friends, Horoscopes, and Vampires, you’ll now be able to chat with friends who are also using the application. The goal for these apps is obviously to keep people using them longer, while for Meebo, it’s yet another way to get people spending more minutes in its chat network. Over the last 30 days, Meebo users have spent more than 100 million minutes logged into chat rooms on Facebook applications alone, according to the company.
