Background
Recent changes to Facebook’s Public Profile interface have created incredible new opportunities for brands to interact and engage with consumers within a platform that reaches 95% of the social networks’ 200 million users. Public Profiles have been redesigned to resemble user profiles and now feature tabbed browsing, which presents a wealth of content in an organized and intuitive manner—allowing brands to deliver their key messages in a comprehensive way. The tabbed navigation allows brands to designate a default landing page for users and permits the addition of interactive applications to the Public Profile experience.
The new Enhanced Wall now publishes stories to the Facebook Newsfeed, which allows companies to reach social brand advocates with messaging that is displayed on the Facebook homepage. When the news of these changes began to make the headlines, Buddy Media quickly and efficiently developed a program for our clients that will best leverage all of the new features and functionality of the Public Profile layout. The team decided that there would be no better way to test these capabilities than to test them out on our own Facebook Page.
Objectives
- Design and optimize the Buddy Media Facebook Public Profile with the Buddy Media’s Social Page Management System
- Leverage the dynamic feed of content posted on the Buddy Media corporate website to populate a branded interface on the Buddy Media Public Profile
- Incorporate customized modules to provide Facebook users with a more robust, interactive experience
Solution
The Buddy Media development team used this opportunity to show off the capabilities of the recently developed Social Page Management System. We harnassed the social power of the Facebook Wall with the integration of a live feed from the Buddy Media corporate website. Stories published to the Wall simultaneously arrive as updates on the personal profile pages of Buddy Media fans.
A customized tab delivers users to a Buddy Media branded user interface that provides the latest news, blogs, press, and event coverage pulled from www.buddymedia.com. Past projects are showcased with graphics and text that drive users to case studies published on the Buddy Media website. A careers module highlights opportunities for employment with the company and the Watercooler section keeps the world abreast of the whimsical nature of the Buddy Media work environment.
Overall, the Public Profile served as a perfect outlet for the social implementation of content from the open web. Now all the Buddy Media news that’s fit to print can be shared and consumed easily within the framework of the Facebook social network.
