Background
The Shoe Box sells the latest footwear and accessories on their ecommerce website and at retail locations throughout the east coast. The Shoe Box carries the most exclusive brands, but they needed a point of differentiation and competitive advantage from the numerous entities that compete in the online footwear space. Buddy Media worked with The Shoe Box to develop a strategy for the organic spread of product and brand information through the social functionality of a Facebook Public Profile. Buddy Media was tasked with creating a Facebook Public Profile that would house a variety of interactive content designed to get Facebook users talking about The Shoe Box brand and ultimately drive qualified traffic to the brand’s open-web ecommerce site.
Objectives
- Design and optimize The Shoe Box Facebook Public Profile with the Buddy Media Social Page Management System
- Develop a gateway to The Shoe Box ecommerce website to drive sales for the brand
- Increase awareness about The Shoe Box brand through organic distribution of virtual gifts and multimedia content
- Provide users with a way to inform friends about the latest footwear and accessories available at The Shoe Box
- Create a thriving fan community for The Shoe Box with which they could continue to build lasting relationships
Solution
The Buddy Media development team leveraged the robust capabilities of the Buddy Media Social Page Management System to create a dynamic, interactive experience for fans of The Shoe Box brand on the Facebook social network. Once the user interface was optimized for intuitive navigation, the design template was implemented on a custom Public Profile Tab filled with interactive and engaging content.
A variety of social modules were added to the page to give The Shoe Box social brand advocates the opportunity to spread content from and news about the brands available at The Shoe Box to their Facebook friends. Featured footwear images were aggregated into a virtual gift library, providing users with an outlet to share their affinity for the latest fashions with friends. Polls allowed users to weigh in on the latest footwear trends or choose which celebrity wore a featured product best. Each module included Facebook Publisher capabilities, so users could post content to their profiles or friends’ Walls – with stories about the activity posted to the Facebook Newsfeed. In addition, The Shoe Box Newsfeed kept users updated on the latest product releases and celebrity fashion sightings, while a Twitter module let users read and share the latest brand tweets.
While the primary goal of the campaign was to raise awareness for The Shoe Box brand, the Public Profile had a secondary goal of driving qualified traffic to the brand’s ecommerce website for online purchases. A social referral module rewarded fans that shared content or information about the brand with coupon codes that could be used on the ecommerce site. In addition, a graphic promotional banner was given prominent real estate on the page to further incent the flow of traffic to The Shoe Box website. The end result of Buddy Media’s dedication and hard work is apparent in the striking design and robust functionality of The Shoe Box Public Profile.
